Abigail Whitney Smith

Massachusetts native Abigail Whitney Smith, soprano, is quickly gaining recognition as a dynamic singing actress. For the '19-20 season, Ms.
Smith is excited to be making debuts across opera, recital, and musical theatre including Odyssey Opera, her NYC debut with Aural Compass Projects, and her Boston cabaret debut this coming spring. She will also return to Boston Lyric Opera, where she was recently featured in their critically-acclaimed production of A Handmaid's Tale.
During the '17-18 season, Abigail debuted as Geraldine Farrar in the world premiere of Laura Neil's Divas with Opera Hub, Terentia in The Beautiful Bridegroom with Mass Opera, and with Seaglass Theater Company.
During the '16- '17 season, Abigail joined the roster of BLO and appeared with Tri-Cities Opera as the Mother in Hansel and Gretel and Soprano 2 in Hydrogen Jukebox. Abigail received her MM in Opera Performance from Binghamton University, where she performed Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi.
Ms. Smith was also a Resident Artist with TCO and made her professional debut as Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia. Abigail received her BM in Vocal Performance from Boston University. Ms. Smith is an avid musical theatre crossover artist and openly LGBT performer. She is based in Boston and currently studies with Dr. Rebecca Folsom.
